SINCE TODAY, RIDE SAFELY WITH THE ABS, THE BRAKING AID SYSTEM.
How does it work?
Electronic sensors are fitted to each wheel (mounted on the phonic wheel, in turn applied to the brake disk). These "read" the movement of the wheel and transmit a feedback signal to an electronic control unit connected to the breaking system. If during breaking, the wheels turn normally without locking, the control unit does not detect any anomaly and does not interfere with the braking action. In this case, the rider modulates braking directly.
However, if the rider applies excessive force to the front and/or rear brake lever, or if the road is slippery (due to snow, ice, gravel, mud, sand, cobbles, etc.) and the wheels lock, the sensors warn the control unit of the presence of an anomaly on or both of the wheels. This in turn acts on the breaking system, releasing pressure from the brake calliper and restoring the grip of the tyre on the road. Immediately afterwards, the ABS returns pressure to the brake calliper, restoring the original braking force and continues to assist braking action, with a succession of corrective interventions as long as the conditions causing the wheel lock continue.

The ABS therefore maintains the tyre constantly within the grip limit between rotation and locking. Exploiting the vehicle's braking power to the full in those particular conditions.
The ABS system on the Aprilia Caponord has been developed in close collaboration with Brembo and uses a Bosch ABS 5M control unit with double Bosch sensors mounted on two phonic wheels. An indicator light on the dashboard lights up when the ABS system comes into operation. If the rider prefers to control braking himself, the back-lit ABS button on the dashboard can be used to turn the system off.
